Ochi Projects is pleased to present Quick and endless, a special project and installation  by Los Angeles based artist Megan Mueller. The exhibition takes place at a private  residence on the west side of Los Angeles, and is open by appointment from September 10 – November 3, 2018. Quick and endless features images Megan Mueller captured by placing flowers,  purchased from the Los Angeles Flower District, on a flatbed scanner. The scanner, a  tool meant to capture large amounts of data, presents overly saturated, elaborately  modified flowers and all their detritus suspended in space. Replacing the camera in this  process, the scanner compresses all sense of depth; materials are captured horizontally and are no longer subject to gravity—petal dust becomes as central in the images as the   petals themselves.

Mueller selected five images for the installation, chosen from over 700 produced, to best  narrate her exploration of time, cycles and stasis. Presenting a pause in the natural  evolution of decay acts as a reminder of the constant state of flux that all things are  subject to, and interrogates the void between the natural made and human made.

Megan Mueller (b. 1982) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She received an MFA in Studio Art from the University of California at Santa Barbara (2015), a BFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University (2008) and a BA in Political Science from George Washington University (2004). Mueller’s work has been exhibited at various national and international venues including The Brand Library, Charlie James Gallery, Noysky Projects, Dalton Warehouse, Field  Projects, New Wight Gallery at UCLA, High Desert Test Tests, GLAMFA, Transformer, TSV Berlin, the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art.
