Emily Marchand’s ceramic diptych, Les Moustiques (2024) features its namesake mosquitos flying through a dreamy nightscape of lily pads, moon reflections, and weeping willows. The insects serve as instigators–disrupting the otherwise peaceful scene of beauty, and they are also used as a memento mori of the passing of time and decay.
