Emily Marchand comments, “When I first started making the sculptures with fruits and veggies, they were mostly vessel shaped. During pandemic times, I shifted into making sculptures of Ozzy, adorned with fruits and veggies. He was always out frolicking in the garden and would often come back covered in tiny flowers and plant bits and we'd call him Ferdinand, after Ferdinand the bull who loved to smell the flowers. While I think these sculptures exude a lot of joy, they almost always have a tear coming out of their eyes, which is a nod to the gravity of our times.”
