Molly Haynes is an artist and weaver whose sculptural textile works operate between organic and industrial forms. With a background in industrial textile design, Haynes developed a rigorous understanding of fibers, construction, and repeat systems that continues to inform her approach to structure and material. Now deliberately resisting automation in favor of slow, hand-built processes, she creates on a manually powered floor loom. Haynes constructs row by row, allowing subtle variations in material, tension, and pattern to emerge over time. These deviations animate otherwise repeating systems, transforming weaving into a sculptural language that foregrounds material presence, spatial form, and the alchemy of fiber.
Molly Haynes (b. 1992, New Jersey, USA) earned her BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her work has been exhibited internationally including at The Hole and Egg Collective in New York, NY; Galerie Antoine Ertaskiran in Montreal, Canada; la BEAST Gallery and Patricia Sweetow Gallery in Los Angeles, CA; and Compound in Long Beach, CA. Her work has been featured in publications including Luxe, W Magazine, and Dovetail Magazine. In 2025, Haynes received a commission from the Art in Embassies program for the US Embassy in Lilongwe, Malawi to be installed in 2026. Haynes lives and works in San Pedro, California.
