Adam Beris’ Nativity (2024) is a tour-de-force painting that features a cavalcade of icons, ideas, characters, logos, moods, and more. Glyphs sculpted from extruded paint—a technique Beris has developed over ten years of grid painting evolution—line the bottom and right side of the canvas like unsorted Windows 95 icons. Set in anemic terrain, cartoon rabbits in combat helmets point artillery up towards a logo of a now-bankrupt 200-year-old American weapons manufacturer, looming under twinkling stars and an instructional CPR graphic.
