Adam Beris’ new paintings mirror the cultivation of consumer desire and encapsulate the hunt for meaning. In Back Forest Ham (2024), several cartoon characters tumble across a cheery meadow full of wildflowers and grass, appearing to morph, merge, and even disappear into the surrounding landscape. Extruded blades of grass and a row of glyphs—including a red flag and the artist’s initials in the lower corner—blossom like perennials, surviving the hibernation of one series or another.
